1. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40 to 60 words.
Q.
(b) Arrange the
following units of memory in ascending order of storage capacity. Gigabyte,
Kilobyte, Terabyte, Megabyte, Petabyte.
Ans. Here are the units of memory arranged in ascending order of storage
capacity:
- Kilobyte (KB)
- Megabyte (MB)
- Gigabyte (GB)
- Terabyte (TB)
- Petabyte (PB)
This order reflects the
increasing capacity of each unit, with each subsequent unit representing a
larger amount of data storage.
2. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40 to 60
words.
Q. (a) How do Compilers differ from Interpreters in
the way they convert the High Level Language Code (Source Code) into Machine
Code (Object Code)
Ans. Compilers
and interpreters both convert high-level language code into machine code but
differ in their methods. Compilers translate the
entire source code into machine code before execution, creating an executable
file, resulting in faster execution times but longer initial compilation. They
detect all errors prior to execution. In contrast, interpreters
translate and execute code line-by-line at runtime, which can simplify
debugging but may lead to slower performance. They do not produce an executable
file and stop at the first error encountered. Compilers are typically used for
languages like C and C++, while interpreters are common for scripting languages
like Python and JavaScript.
3. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40 to 60
words.
Q.
(b) One of the most
important skills an entrepreneur must have is the soft skills. List out any
four major skills that come under soft skills.
Ans. Soft skills Soft Skills
include the following:
- Communication: The ability to convey information clearly and effectively in
both verbal and written forms.
- Interpersonal
relations: The capacity to build and maintain
positive relationships with others through empathy, respect, and
understanding.
- Environmental
Observation: The skill to notice
and analyze external factors and dynamics that impact the business
environment.
- Coordination: The
ability to organize and manage resources and tasks effectively to achieve
desired outcomes.
- Specific operation
Technology: Proficiency
in using particular technological tools and platforms relevant to specific
tasks or operations in a business context.
4. Answer any one of the following questions in about 100 to 150 words.
Q. (b) Discuss Free and Open Source Softwares (FOSS)?
List out the major benefits of using FOSS.
Ans. Free and Open Source Software
(FOSS) is a computer software which are free and open source. They are also
available and can be freely licenced to use, copy and modify the software based
on need or requirement. The source code is openly shared so that user can use
or improve the existing software. FOSS provides freedom to run a program for
any purpose.
Benefits of using FOSS
Secure: Operating System or platform
are not perfectly secured but security aspect of FOSS attracted public organizations
to consider FOSS solutions.
Stable and Reliable: FOSS servers are
functioning fine for years without making any maintenance issues.
Reduced dependence on import of software: FOSS reduces the cost of proprietary software licenses.
Developing Local Software Capability: Everyone is able to modify and redistribute the software which helps in
learning and acts as an excellent training system.
5. Answer any one of the following questions in about 100 to 150
words.
Q.
(a) Explain
the following terms briefly using suitable examples:
a) Data Encapsulation
b) Inheritance
Ans. a) Data Encapsulation
Data encapsulation refers to the wrapping of data (attributes)
and the functions (methods) that operate on that data into a single unit,
typically a class, in object-oriented programming. This concept is fundamental
to OOP as it restricts direct access to the class's data members, promoting
data safety and integrity.
For example, in a class called item
, a
private member variable keep_data
cannot be accessed directly from outside the class. Instead, access
is controlled through public member functions like set()
and get_value()
,
ensuring that any interaction with the data is managed and secure.
b) Inheritance
Inheritance is a mechanism by which a new class (derived
class) inherits the properties and behaviors of an existing class (base class).
This allows for the creation of a hierarchical relationship between classes and
promotes code reusability. For instance, if we consider an Automotive
class as a base class, the TwoWheelers
class can be derived from it, which then includes a Motorcycle
class. In this hierarchy, the Motorcycle
class inherits features from
both the TwoWheelers
and Automotive
classes, enabling it to have characteristics common to both, such
as attributes and methods, without the need to rewrite the existing code.
6. Prepare any one project out of the following.
(b)
Cloud Computing is a buzz
word in today’s world. Elaborate upon the advantages of Cloud Computing? Also
differentiate between SaaS, PaaS and IaaS with suitable examples.
Ans.
Advantages of Cloud Computing
- Cost Efficiency:
Cloud computing allows users to pay only for the services they use,
eliminating the need for significant upfront investments in hardware and
infrastructure. This is especially beneficial for businesses that require
specific IT resources only for short periods.
- Scalability:
Users can easily scale services up or down based on demand, providing
flexibility to accommodate changes in workload without the need for
physical infrastructure changes.
- Accessibility:
Cloud services can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection,
allowing for remote work and collaboration across different geographical
locations.
- Resource Pooling:
Resources are pooled together to serve multiple users, which maximizes
efficiency and allows for optimal resource utilization.
- Automatic Updates:
Cloud service providers manage and implement software updates and
maintenance, ensuring that users always have access to the latest features
and security patches without downtime.
- Disaster Recovery:
Many cloud services offer built-in backup and disaster recovery options,
ensuring data security and continuity in case of an unforeseen event.
Differentiation between SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS
- Software as a Service (SaaS):
- Definition: SaaS provides users with access to applications hosted on the cloud
without the need for installation or management of underlying
infrastructure.
- Examples: Gmail, Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce.
- Use Case: A business using Gmail for email communication accesses the service
via a web browser without managing servers or applications.
- Platform as a Service (PaaS):
- Definition: PaaS offers a platform that allows developers to build, deploy, and
manage applications without dealing with the complexities of the
underlying infrastructure.
- Examples: Google App Engine, Microsoft Azure.
- Use Case: A developer using Google App Engine can create a web application
using the tools and programming languages supported by the platform
without managing servers.
- Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS):
- Definition: IaaS provides virtualized computing resources over the internet,
allowing users to rent servers, storage, and networking components to run
their own software.
- Examples: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines.
- Use Case: A company might use AWS to host its website and database, managing
its operating system and applications while relying on AWS for hardware
resources.
