NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling)
The National Institute
of Open Schooling (NIOS) formerly known as
National Open School (NOS) was established in November,1989 as an autonomous organisation
in pursuance of National Policy on Education 1986 by the Ministry of Human
Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. NIOS is providing a number of
Vocational, Life Enrichment and community oriented courses besides General and
Academic Courses at Secondary and Senior Secondary level. It also offers
Elementary level Courses through its Open Basic Education
Programmes (OBE).Government of India through agazette notification vested NIOS with the authority to examine and certify learners
registered with it upto pre degree level courses whether Academic, Technical or
Vocational. Association of Indian Universities, vide letter No .
EV/11(354)/91/ 25 July, 1991 issued Equivalence of
Senior Secondary Certificate Examination of NIOS.

Meaning of Transfer Of Credit (TOC): If
student passed 2 or 3 subject from any other board in
10th or 12th class then NIOS consider these subject as pass.

recognized Boards and up to four subjects if passed
through NIOS)
EXAMINATION FEES DETAILS
Rs. 150/- per Subject & Rs. Additional fee of
Rs. 70/- per subject involving practicals.
Note. Admission fee and examination fee may be vary
as per centre.
Center will collect admission fee + Form fee + postage
charges + teaching fee + counseling fee
Choice in Medium of Instructions:
NIOS
offers its courses mainly in English, Hindi and Urdu mediums.
Secondary Course: At Secondary level, the course
is offered in Regional Mediums also besides these
mediums.
The choice of medium is also available in Telugu, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam
and Oriya in
addition
to English, Hindi and Urdu mediums. The learner is free to choose any one of
these mediums for
studies.
Sr.Secondary Course: At
Sr.Secondary level, the course is offered only English, Hindi and Urdu mediums.
The
learner is free to choose any one of these mediums for studies.
Midium For Examination: The
question paper is bilinual (Hindi & English) in Secondary and Sr.Secondary
for
learners opted for Hindi/English midium of study. However, learners are free to
write their answer in any
of the
scheduled language. This instructions are also given in the examination
instructions of Answer Sheet.
For
learners opted for Regional mediums or Urdu as midium of study, they will get
the question paper in the
respective
midium only.

implemented the Online Admission and
Examination System. CSC is in advanced level of discussions
to make CSCs as Facilitation Counters of NIOS.
After the agreement is signed, we will provide the following

Cancellation of Admission
Your admission will be cancelled
• if the
admission form is incomplete,
• if the fee
paid is short,
• if the
supporting documents are not complete,
• if false
documents have been submitted,
• if
required educational qualifications are not fulfilled,
• if the
minimum age criteria is not fulfilled,
• if
incorrect or wrong information is given,
• if the
secondary examination is not passed from a recognised board.
• if more
than 03 (three) admission forms are received from the same address.
Note: Admission
once cancelled will not be re-considered and fee paid will not be refunded
under any circumstances.
Scheme of Studies for Academic Courses
The Scheme of Studies for Secondary and Senior Secondary
Courses is shown in the following
Table. For obtaining a pass certificate, you are required to
pass in a minimum of five subjects
including one or maximum of two languages from Group ‘A’ and
other three or four subjects from
Group ‘B’. However, you are free to take up to two additional
subjects. Thus, in all you can
choose a maximum of seven subjects.
